Inside, you’ll find a stylish and uniquely designed interior, featuring 26 boutique bedrooms that offer the ultimate in comfort. This is more than just a place to stay, we provide a true home-away-from-home experience, the perfect destination for our guests to enjoy a warm welcome, superior food, and a luxurious night’s sleep in this spacious and open setting.
Set in the centre of this busy market town in Berkshire, this gorgeous pub with rooms has the best of both worlds, a bustling town in the heart of the Berkshire countryside, ideally located for connections to London, Reading and Oxford, as well as easy connections to some countryside jewels in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From tranquil canals including The Kennet & Avon Canal featuring idyllic waterside paths, to the Grade I listed Elizabethan gardens at Shaw house.
The name of our iconic pub with rooms is a nod to the Newbury-born Michael Bond, author of the beloved character Paddington Bear, as well as the historic Newbury Coat of 1811. This pub, surrounded by history and brimming with quirky features, will be a hub for community and hive of life.
