Paddington Bear statue unveiled in Newbury

The new Paddington Bear statue has been unveiled here in Newbury.

As the birthplace of creator, Michael Bond, Newbury has always held Paddington close to it’s heart.

And now, the town is proud to be one of the 23 sites that form the “Paddington Visits” trail, which sees the statues placed at significant locations across the UK, from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

Unveiled by Mayor of Newbury, Andy Moore, the statue of Paddington sat on a bench, can be found on Northbrook Street, just a five minute walk from us at The Coat & Bear, which opens on Tuesday 29th October.

With its central location, the Paddington statue is the perfect spot for a photo op. Why not grab a picture and then head over to The Coat & Bear, Newbury’s newest destination for great food, drinks, and cosy accommodation?

Whether you’re grabbing a drink, enjoying a meal, or staying overnight, The Coat & Bear is a wonderful place to relax after your Paddington adventure.

Even the name of our iconic pub is a nod to Michael Bond and Paddington Bear, as well as the historic Newbury Coat of 1811.

And with our opening just days before the release of Paddington in Peru—the highly anticipated new film hitting cinemas on 8th November—there’s never been a better time to embrace all things Paddington in Newbury.

Book a table with us at The Coat & Bear to ensure you don’t miss out on our fantastic menu.
